The Universe is called the Cosmos. The word cosmos is used to imply that the Universe is a complex and orderly system.

Cosmology is a branch of Astronomy where the origin, the evolution and the eventual fate of the Universe are studied.

Cosmology is also described as a historical science because when we look out in space, we look back in time due to the finite nature of the speed of light.

The Universe is generally understood to have begun with the Big Bang, followed almost instantaneously by cosmic inflation. The Universe is emerged 13.8 billion years ago by expansion of space.

The Universe is composed of 4.9% atomic matter, 26.6% dark matter and 68.5% dark energy.

Dark matter is called dark because it does not appear to interact with the electromagnetic field, which means it doesn't absorb, reflect or emit electromagnetic radiation, and is therefore difficult to detect.

Dark energy is an unknown form of energy that affects the universe on the largest scale. Dark energy is a kind of mysterious force that causes the rate of expansion of the universe to accelerate over time.
